The Facts About Sexual Attraction
Sexual attraction is not just a matter of taste. Sexual attraction is based in biology and is motivated by the desire to successfully reproduce. It's not about what we like to look at perfect breasts, lush lips, a great butt. The basis for sexual attraction lies in the human need to procreate with the best available specimen. Sounds romantic, huh?
The truth is there is no romance involved in sexual attraction. It's all about choosing the best candidate to make babies with. Naturally, that means the most attractive people will get the most attention.
Think about when you are picking out produce in the grocery store. You are drawn to the fruits and vegetables that look most appetizing, and that is because they are at the peek of ripeness when they will be the most delicious and satisfying.
It's the same with sexual attraction. The human body wants to find the most appetizing and satisfying partner that will produce the strongest offspring so their bloodline will be able to survive for a long, long time. A weak and undesirable person is not the best choice when longevity is the primary goal.
There are three main areas involved in sexual attraction: looks, smells and sound. Of course we are all familiar with the looks department. Interestingly enough, what is viewed in pop culture as an attractive woman skin and bones thinness and a waiflike appearance is not the most appealing biologically.
A sexually attractive woman has some meat and muscle on her bones, and some curves here and there as well. A woman's body requires a certain level of fat to reproduce, and that is important when looking for a successful reproductive partner. Men are most appealing when they appear strong, healthy and successful. When carrying on the family bloodline, it is important to be able to provide for the children you will produce.
Our sense of smell also plays a role in sexual attraction. Some aromas act to attract sexual partners, especially pheromones, which our bodies give off naturally but no one can consciously smell. On the flip side, unpleasant odors can act as a repellent to prospective partners.
Tone of voice can also attract or repel possible sexual partners. All humans are innately attracted to certain vocal qualities and will naturally be drawn to them when searching for someone to have kids with.
Sexual attraction is a complex human process. Although physical appearance does play a role in sexual attraction, there are many other factors that contribute to who a person will choose when looking to reproduce.
